243- Life on this earth

We all know that our time on the earth is limited. But it never dawns on you just how short it really is. I am in Michigan with my father as his life comes to a close. I hear that the days are long but the years are short and that point is being driven into me this week. My father is making his final journey and it's been sorrowful as we wait with him as he walks the last few steps of his life. I know that Jesus Christ is waiting at the end of this road to welcome dad with open arms. He has run the good race and is ready to claim his prize.

He's 81 and has lived a fun filled and action packed life. He has enjoyed camping, fishing, going to plays, facebook.

He golfed, bowled, coached little league, and played the trumpet` in a dance band that played at weddings. He loves music, sat through our concerts and liked to pull the one-armed bandits at the casino's. He was a desk jockey for the electric company but also shoveled coal into the power plants to keep the lights burning. He ran a TV camera in the studio of a local cable company and watched his grandchildren grow up from afar as we traveled the world with the Navy.

He fought the North Korean commie bastards from Pensacola, Florida for four years. He greeted folks on Sunday morning and passed out communion. He hung out at the K of C club when my mom let him and enjoyed the comaraderie he found there along with his father.
He is my father and I love him.
