Do You Know Me?
Who Am I?
- I was born in East Derry, NH on November 18, 1923.
- I graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1944.
- I deployed aboard the USS Cogswell, a destroyer, in WWII.
- I was the first American in space on May 5, 1961.
- I was grounded from the space program because of Ménière's disease.
- I had corrective ear surgery and returned to flight status in May 1969.
- I was the fifth man to walk on the moon, February 3, 1971.
- I am the only man to golf on the moon during Apollo 14 in 1971.
