I was watching the Red Wings shut out Columbus 3-0. It got me to thinking about how it used to be. I can remember watching what is now called "The Original Six". Back in the day there were only six teams:
Detroit Red Wings
New York Rangers
Chicago Black Hawks
Montreal Canadiens
Toronto Maple Leafs
Boston Bruins
Every Saturday night would be "Hockey Night in Canada" on CBC. They would always have a game from either Toronto or Montreal. Hockey greats like Gordie Howe, Maurice Richard, Bobby Orr, Bobby Hull, Johnny Bower, Tony Horton, etc, etc.
Anyway it got me to thinking about how large the NHL had gotten and how the best players from around the globe now play professionally in North America.
It's not better or worse- just different.
Remember... Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body- but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "holy s***...what a ride!" ----->Don't let your tombstone read: Died at 30- Buried at 80.
