No Stanley For Hockeytown in 2010

The Wings went down in defeat to the San Jose Sharks, 4 games to 1. The Wings lost four games by a total of four goals. They outscored the Sharks 17 goals to 15. Funny how the pucks bounce this time of the year.

So it's wait until next year for Mike Blabcock and his Detroit Red Wings.

124 - R.I.P. Ernie Harwell

William Earnest "Ernie" Harwell

(January 25, 1918 — May 4, 2010)

Mr. Harwell was the only voice of Detroit Tigers baseball that I knew from the time I was born until I left Michigan in 1985. His smooth southern drawl told me that "a man from Petosky, Michigan caught that foul ball" and "That was strike three called. He stood there like the house by the side of the road" for hundreds of baseball games.

In 1985 I waited in line at a bookstore in the Renaissance Center to speak with him and have him autograph his book "Tuned to Baseball". He was a gentleman, baseball scholar, down to earth man and a man of God. This is a sad day for everyone whose life was touched by Ernie.

Rest in God's arms Ernie Harwell.
