27- Happy 5th Anniversary Brad and Sandy

My friend Brad and his wife celebrated their fifth anniversary of Brad's Periodontics practice today. I ran into a lot of old Navy friends and colleagues there and it was good to catch up. Most are still practicing dentistry and it was amazing to hear about how well all their families are doing, how they have grown and how their dental practice lives have gone as well.

I remembering jogging with Brad and talking about the practice deals he was investigating and the different pros and cons of each prospective buy in deal. He was really sweating ti out about if they would be a strong practice to partner into and if he would be able to get along with the senior partner or not. After plenty of discussion, he decided to open a brand new practice and build it from the ground up. It turned out to be the right decision for him. Even with the economy as terrible as it has been he proudly told me... I've paid off my loans, I've kept my head above water and I'm paying taxes.

Paying taxes... is the mark of success. Because that means you are making enough profit to pay the bills, pay the staff, pay the rest of the overhead expenses and still take money home to feed your family. I may whine and complain about it--- but I thank God everyday that I get to pay taxes... it means I'm successful.
