Who Am I:
- I was born in Bueno Vista, GA on December 21, 1911 and died when I was 35 years old.
- When I was young I wanted to become an electrician in the sixth grade.
- I was a catcher in the Negro Baseball League from 1930-46.
- I was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown in 1972. My plaque reads "Hit almost 800 home runs in 17 seasons".
- Most of my career was spent with the Homestead Grays and the Pittsburgh Crawfords.
- In 1943 I was diagnosed with a brain tumor and I died from a stroke in 1947.
- Many people called me the "Black Babe Ruth".
